June is National Homeownership Month! (And National Safety Month!)

Can you believe it's already June? We can't either. Summer doesn't start until June 20th, but today kicks off National Home Ownership Month. Whether you're a first-time homebuyer, looking for a pied-à-terre, moving down to a more manageable small house, a seasoned flipper, or a homeowner who just needs to organize their closets and mow the lawn (we do too), it's a time to reflect on what has been a cornerstone of this country for generations.

Earlier today, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson hosted a forum on the state of homeownership in the U.S., specifically the challenges millennials face, saying, “Today, we recognize the abiding value of owning a home, and rededicate ourselves toward ensuring that every hardworking and credit-worthy American enjoys a fair chance at becoming a homeowner.”

Additionally, the National Safety Council has declared June National Safety Month, geared toward reducing preventable injury and disability at work, on the road and in our homes and communities. Their extensive safety resources include guidance on everything from ergonomics to preparation for active shooter situations. Check that out, as well as their Keep Each Other Safe initiative, here.
